About
Dubby Stemp
Who am I?
I am a qualified CBT therapist, accredited with the BABCP¸ the leading professional organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in the UK and Ireland.
The BABCP is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
What does this mean for you?
You know that I abide by their professional code of conduct and work to their ethical standards and values (see https://babcp.com/About/About).
I am also required to hold professional indemnity insurance.
Therapy Experience
I have practised as a therapist both privately and for four NHS trusts within their Talking Therapies services, treating a wide range of clients. It is important that your therapy is tailored to your needs.
It may be that your childhood is impacting how you currently feel or it may be that you want to focus on the present, whatever you wish to address we will work in a collaborative way to identify the best approach.
Whilst my expertise is in CBT, I use a blended approach which incorporates aspects of other therapies, such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance & Compassion, Schema therapies and also applying positive psychology to help you not only overcome your problems, but to move on and flourish.
My Story
As well as being a psychotherapist, I’m also a parent, a friend, son, sibling, partner, and colleague. I love fitness, I play squash, football and I’m a keen MAMIL (middle aged men in lycra), i.e., cyclist!
My passion is psychology, having studied and practiced it for over 13 years. I’ve worked with individuals, groups and my aim is to not only help you overcome your issues, but to help you thrive. By working together to understand your issues and their causes, I hope to then give you the tools and power to overcome them and enjoy life.
I’m privileged to be able to listen to people’s life stories and experiences, particularly where they have felt able to share difficult experiences, often for the first time. I have supported clients across a large range of difficulties including depression, general anxiety, panic, stress, OCD, PTSD, phobias, trauma, anger management, low self-esteem, perfectionism, physical health difficulties, relationships difficulties and life changes.

What to Expect
I’m guessing you are here because your struggles have become overwhelming and I want you to know that therapy can help. I have helped hundreds of people who were struggling, feeling broken, weak or a failure. Life can br complicated and difficult but we are all human and although we can struggle at times, with professional support we can find a way through.
Everyone is unique so I am happy to host face to face sessions in Woking, via Microsoft Teams/Zoom or walking therapy outside if this makes you feel more at ease there. My aim is for you to feel welcome and at ease so you are able to tell me your story with all the thoughts and emotions this may generate for you. With you being the expert of your experience and me bringing my clinical skills and knowledge, we will work together and use tools and techniques to overcome your problems.
